Aromatic Reflexology combines the benefits of two ancient therapies – aromatherapy and reflexology. Reflexology involves massage and pressure applied to specific points on the feet, and in doing so, activates the healing powers of the body, by assisting the body back to homeostasis or balance.
As a therapy, reflexology has significant benefits including promoting relaxation and reducing stress and anxiety, improving circulation, promoting the removal of wastes and improving the metabolic function, revitalizes energy levels, and balances the whole system.
Reflexology focuses on the principle that reflexes, or key points, in the feet, hands and ears, relate to internal organs and other structures of the body. For centuries, Chinese medicine has used finger pressure (acupressure) to stimulate key points across the body.
Reflexology, as a modern day therapy, was first introduced in the early years of the twentieth century by Dr William Fitzgerald. He developed the zone theory and demonstrated how different parts of the foot corresponded to specific parts of the body.
In reflexology, massaging the reflex points in the feet treats the entire body. The body’s six major meridians (energy pathways) all end in the feet, so each part of the foot relates to various parts of the body.
Excessive stress disrupts the body’s natural balance or equilibrium. Reflexology is extraordinarily effective in maintaining good health as well as relieving many forms of physical and emotional discomfort.
Reflexology treats a range of issues including digestive problems, constipation, fluid retention, menstrual irregularity, stress, fatigue, migraine and skin problems. It also maintains energy and health levels.
